Women wear lipstick traditionally in red colours - and this is to draw attention to the lips. When a woman is aroused then the blood flow to certain areas of the body is increased and usually the lips will be of a darker, redder colour, thus wearing lipstick gives the impression of being aroused - and thus attracts men. This is also why other makeup is worn - eyeliner and shadow makes the eyes look wider; when attracted to another person our eyes naturally dilate - makeup is a way to accentuate these features and make us more sexually attractive.

From existing depictions of the Ancient Greece we can see that they wore wigs, kohl, and henna made of plant dye from fucus algin and bromine (which was poisonous) on their lips. Queen Elizabeth, a trend setter and ruler, wore red on her lips. Not everyone loved the lipstick. In 1770, the British Parliament passed a law that said a woman wearing lipstick could be tried for witch craft. Queen Victoria of Britain said it was considered “impolite” to wear any make-up. In the 1800’s wearing red on your lips meant you were “fast” however, in the Roaring 20’s, the suffragists wore red as a symbol of their new found power. Hollywood starlets such as Gloria Swanson and Lana Turner helped increase the popularity of the lipstick. Elizabeth Arden opened a beauty parlor in the 1930’s that helped the average woman access make-up. And in1949, Hazel Bishop perfected a long lasting lipstick.

People tend to think that rosy cheeks and lips are sensuous and a sign of good health.

You can tell alot from a woman's choice of lip color. Women who use redhot lipstick usually have this "come kiss me, i'm sexy" thing about them. By that i mean, if you go on a date with a woman and she wears red hot lipstick that glistens in the dark, you know she has plans of kissing you that evening. Women who use clear lipgloss tend to be the innocent type but they usually have some naughty overtone to them. Women who use pink just want to look fresh and natural, just giving their pale lips some colour,so they say but really they're the hard to get ones... The lips are very sensual as they resemble the reproductive organs!! They are also use to communicate and more importantly kiss, so by wearing a lipstick a woman is sending out subconscious signals to men about their fertility. It also makes a woman feel better as it can brighten the face and emphasise a smile.

women have used lipstick and other kinds of make up since the dawn of time. It was probably used back then as a form of tribal markings (like you see the indiginous people doing in various countries) and then it evolved into something more glamourous. Also supposedly men see lips as sensual and making them red or colourful draws attention to your lips therefore ensuring men find you more appealing.

Hi - Personally I use it because I have VERY pale lips and actually look like Im dead if I dont put some colour on them!

Historically, I believe that making lips red makes them resemble a lady's privates and excites men.

Personally, I dont think my f*anny and mouth look them same but who am I to judge?!

To enhance the shape of their mouths and brighten their face. this is right answer now a days. actully the natural colour of our lips is pink but some women have black or brown lips thats why they were used lipstick to show her natural . but now a days its a fashion

women use lipstick to look more attractive...for men ...or women ,most women doesn't want to look ugly specially when they wanted to meet someone else.Women must look good anytime specially for mind,body,spirit and soul...makes women completely happily ever after.
