Good for whom?
Thinking person is good for society whose thoughts torture him so as to benefit the society.
The ignorant is a bliss for himself and curse for the society.

To live in bliss, whether ignorant or not, would be ideal. If you live in ignorance, you don't miss things that you could attain through, say, spiritual practise, because you are ignorant to the fact that you could live a 'better' life. If you are a 'thinking' person, you are open to the delights and disgusts of this existence; there will be great highs but you cannot 'ignore' the pitiful lows brought on by being open to new experiences. What is a thinking person? Through meditation, some people can completely empty their minds of all thoughts, desires, wants and be totally in the moment. Surely they are trying to attain 'ignorance' for that period of time. Is that how we should live all the time or is it only relevant to experience that emptiness in the context of being 'aware' all the rest of the time? Even when in deep meditation there must a part of us which is aware that we are meditating otherwise we would never come out of it again.
By the same token, is it possible for us to experience what true ignorant bliss is? I doubt it, so it is impossible to pick which would be the best state to be in as we cannot experience true ignorance.

Is a thinking person free of ignorance?
I suspect that by a thinking person you mean someone who questions and does not just accept.
More often than not it is the thinking person that makes life misery.
Is it good to, consider, to think something out carefully and fully? YES! And then act.
Ignorant bliss is what, head in the sand?
Not wanting to see?
A sense of what i don't know about wont hurt me attitude.
Is that really so?
I don't see ignorance as bliss it brings its own misery. To oneself and to others.
Thinking needn't be intelligent either of-course and more often is not, observe the world!
So unless you mean a form of critical thinking, the purpose of which is defined to seeking out the truth, then to just be a thinking person does mean a good person.

ignorance is not bliss, it is dull and bluh, wisdom is the most refreshing and free sense of being. If I were a dog then I would expect to just sit and lick myself and play and sniff a lot (no offence), but as a human with a (hopefully) more superior brain then one has a greater faculty for though and self-conscious actions and thus having that facility how can one be happy to not use it!

Ignorant bliss is virtual facism (racism). Be OPEN-MINDED, broaden you knowledge of other cultures, nationalities, and races, and you will feel so much better in yourself because you can understand people who you would consider 'different'!
