Actually Freddie was waiting for a "miracle" to save his life...brilliant. As well as Freddie's last songs, which talk about the matter of life & death. (I personally like the late Freddie Mercury albums much, "Innuendo", "Miracle" or "Made in heaven")
Yeah of course it was shot in 1989, Freddie died in 1991.
And Freddie's unshaved face was to hide his almost distorted face, due to his plastic surgery on his cheeks in 1988. (Freddie's mate, Jim Hutton, has mentioned this in his book.)
