If you can, install a ceiling exhaust fan in your bathroom. It Will draw out some of the steam. There are also moisture resistant paints for bathrooms. You can find them at any Home Depot type store. I have a ceiling fan, but also clean the ceiling and walls of my bathroom every couple of months.

Take the wiper used for wiping the floors, and use it on the walls after use to sweep and drain the droplets down. you could also try scrubbing the walls with wax to make them moisture resistant.

Alternatively you could cover the walls during use , with the plastic bath curtains available at furnishing stores.

Get an extractor fan, open window during bath or shower or put in a dehumidifier.
Kill fungus and spores with neat bleach, but beware of your hands...use gloves!
