Ok, so at the start of the Vietnam war, the was a lot of support for it, and protestors, or anyone who didn't support it were called cowardly and unpatriotic. The media played a huge role during the vietnam war. Through the media, specifically through television, people were able to see the reality of the war. The video footage of Vietnam towns being bombed, and innocent children being burnt with napalm, really hit people hard. Once people saw these realities of the war, through the media, more and more people became opposed to the war, and the period of great social change and protest began.

I tried to keep it short, hope it helps :)

It was the very first time we had war brought into our homes directly through television. One very influential news story and picture was a South Vietnamese officer shooting a Viet Cong soldier in the back of his head while the soldier knelt on the ground. That was shocking to Americans, and pictures and stories like that turned the people against the war.
