Although the old loyalist and conservative (little c) in me (I used to work at the Royal Greenwich Observatory when we were responsible for calculating time) loves Greenwich Mean Time, I think we should go to permanent British Summer Time (although it'd be renamed British Standard Time). Why the hell should we have to run the added risk of accidents just because a few sulky farmers don't like getting up in the dark. They can get up later and record Jeremy Kyle instead! The Scots also complain. They've got a more valid complaint and I'd suggest that it wouldn't be too much of a wrench if the Scots adopted a different time zone from England and Wales. Their TV could be transmitted +/- 1 hour.

What are your problems???? Why are you so worried about changing time an hour fwd or an hour bck??? Are your lives that dull that you are so hung up over an event which takes place twice a year. Get a life!!! It's fun when the clocks go back, you get an extra hour to do anything. Shame we lose that hour in the spring. Oh well. By the way, we change it here in Sunny Cyprus too.

PS Give me all the thumbs down you like, I don't care.

They do not do this in West Australia and I think its the only part of the world where the clocks do not move!

You wake up at 5am with blistering sunshine in your face! Nah I like the clocks moving! That extra hour in bed and the losing an hour makes you know your alive (ish!)

One year they didn't put the clocks back and so people were getting up in the dark and going home in the dark. It's best to put the clocks back and forward.

i think daylight savings time is a great idea. so we should leave it as is, forward in summer, back in fall. What i really think should be done is move the clocks 3 hours ahead in the summer. That way, it will be light until about 10pm...which would be awesome.

I think its time we left it alone. We originally moved the timing to help farmers so that they could work with as much light as possible. However in my area they seem to be able to work at all hours now, quite late into the night as their tractors are fitted with large spot lights that totally light up the field and the surrounding areas, so there does not seem to be the need any more.

Don't worry it is only a TEMPORARY thing to save energy, I think it started around 1973 when the fuel shot up very fast, as soon as the Boffins wake up and remember that it is not working it will stop. I live in Switzerland and I am told the cows don't take any notice so there.

I agree with them going back because I get an extra hour in bed but it all does seem a bit pointless. My Nan told me it was something to do with trhe war and they should have stopped when the war finished but never did.

I think everywhere that practices daylight savings time put the clocks back a half hour and leave it at that... no more back and forth ever again...
