My 2000 Harley wide glide has been going around bends for 65,000 troublefree miles. Curvy roads are my favorite, I find straight roads boring, boring. I can ride her 12-14 hours a day without aches and pains. Now thats cruising!!!
AND, 45-50 mpg depending on the hills!

Sensible answer then!

Yes They Do - but not in any hurried fashion.

Take, say, a Heritage Softail Classic.

Not a lot of ground clearance, so you can't lean far ( and less far than that if two up, because the suspension is compressed).

Heavy (lots of mass) combined with not much ground clearance means you can't really hustle it around corners. Performs best in sweeping bends.

They're not fast, either, ( arguably fast enough for Gatso-Ridden UK though) but loads of torque - OK for pulling tree stumps.....lol

Makes for easy riding though, so you'll arrive at your destination nice and relaxed, unlike, perhaps, the sportsbike rider who may have developed a few creaks and groans on the way....

That said, it is a cruiser, after all, and can't be compared with the more usual plastic rockets that a lot of people ride around on, and which have their own attributes.

As for bikers taking pops at each other - No I don't know why they do it - they've always done it.

Competetiveness, I suppose - a need to establish the pecking order?

Although, at the end of the day, you'd be hard pressed to find a biker that wouldn't help another who had a problem - they're all good people

Hope this was of help - I seem to have rambled on a bit.....

There is a 90* bend in the road on the way to work. The speed limit on the road is 40 mph. The caution sign says 30 mph. I go round the bend (ha ha) 2X a day. With an upside down fishtail on the lower pipe (makes it about 3" lower). At 40 mph.

I can only say that the three guys i know that ride Harleys are steady old chaps who have no intentions of going fast round bends, thats why they ride Harleys and not rip snorting GSXR 1000's

Having owned both Harley Davidson and Suzuki I find this sort of question both bemusing and infuriating, why oh why oh why do bikers have to dig at each other?? Shouldn't we all be bitching about the more important things, like the white van man who cares not a jot if you are cruising touring or racing, he just cuts you up anyway.

Some Harleys get around OK.
I used to have some little 750's that got around bends well enough.

Like these:

Sometimes up around 100mph,,ya gotta kind of hug the inside of the bend to get them around

And then, they did tend to make black tire mark build-up on the ground when finishing the bends

Yes, but very carefully. The person sitting on back of the harley is not the driver's "old lady." It's his mechanic. So when the harley breaks down, the mechanic fixes it and then they ride on for a few more miles until something else goes wrong.

Of course they go around bends. The question is how well they do it.

Consider the fact that they have floorboards. If you lean too aggressively you'll throw sparks or slide sideways (called low siding) or both.

Yes and I miss seeing them.

Out little town used to play host to about two thousand bikers each year but they stopped coming.
Everyone enjoyed seeing them so there was no petition.
They were polite and well behaved and the local pubs were full of them giving the locals something to look forward to again.
So bikers out there come back to Harwood Hall if you can.
