Yes
You need to hook your tape deck to your pc. You will need specialised programs to record the sounds. Too much effort. Rather search for the track on the net.

Yes, there are many ways. Hook up a MIni Disk containing a digital \analogue convertor recorder to your hi-fi system via the amplifier & u can then record from any source on your HI-fi system ie radio or tv input, record deck, cd player, tape deck). You can then hook up a cd recorder ( ie the high quality marantz 630 )and record the mini-disk to CD in real time .Most good cd copying software quickly converts your audio cd track by track into mp3 files, and allows you to rename them (ie Roxio or Nero)

Do you know Nero? It is a program to transfer all kinds of data to a CD.
When you want to turn an audio file into an mp3 file you should use real player. real player is actually a program just to play media files. However, if you want to store a song from a cd into your computer, real player must turn your file into a filetype your computer can handle with. So, you can make real player turn your cd files into mp3 files, for example.
Try this website to download real player: http://www.freedownloadhq.com/realplayer.asp?s=ovuk&a=realplayer&OVRAW=real%20player&OVKEY=real%20player&OVMTC=standard
And here is the website to download Nero:
http://www.freedownloadhq.com/nero.asp?s=ovuk&a=nero&OVRAW=Nero&OVKEY=nero&OVMTC=standard
If Nero does not work you may need to buy it.

You want the Griffin iMic, plugs into audio out port of the tape player and audio in port of your PC. It comes with the programme neccesary to import and has the advantage of the input being cleaned of noise etc and converts it into digital.

I find the easiest way to record from tape to the new line of Hi-md players, and then use this to upload to the computer. They hook up to the pc like an Ipod and upload almost as quickly.

I use audiograbber through the sound-card - you can record from any source and could even rip from copy protected cds (if you were not so law abiding).
Also rips to MP3 :)
