It does feel that the Ordinary White Christian Brit that works pays taxes doesn't sponge off the state has lost any status...it is the minority groups that seem to get all the attention and everything aimed at them...the Politically Correct Brigade and the Nanny State are turning the UK into a total mockery...You cant wear a crucifix..celebrate Christmas etc etc in case it upsets any of these minorities..and wo-betide you if you even hint at anything racial...I expect some one will complain about my reply and I`ll get a violation notice....Yes I totally agree with you I know just what you are getting at...the only ones in the UK now without a voice are the White Brits.

Soobee - I'm Welsh - I have no "issues" with England so don't go putting words in my mouth thanks.
In some ways I feel white British (talking English Welsh Scottish etc here) ARE 2nd class citizens because they don't seem to thave the same sort of support if they have a grievance. In an instance of a white man attacking a black or asian man it becomes a "racial attack" and healdine news "(Stephen Lawrence etc) but when its the other way around and a white man is attacked by a black or asian attacker its often swept under the carpet - this happened to a friend of mine.
So much has been made about this muslim womna being told to take off her veil in a school and so many people are supporting her - I feel that if it had been a white woman being told not to wear a symbol of her faith (crucifix etc) noone would care.
Plus there are some very dubious standards at work - if a taxpaying British family lose their home through mortgage repossession (ie dad gets ill/loses his jobs etc and they can't pay the repayments) they are unlikely to get any help from the local Council (its classed as "intentionally homeless" by my local council if you lose your home because you couldn't pay the mortgage) yet immigrants and asylum seekers are regularly given accomodation and benefits by the state.
I feel it is going the way that white Brits are becoming second class and if the government don't start addressing this they will see a move towards far-right parties like the BNP. They should take this as a warnin and stop ignoring the people who put them in power in the first place.

The question is not specific enough to answer.
However, just to correct some people who have been making sweeping generalisations and using emotive language, according to the 2001 Census, 92.1% of UK citizens are white, so please let's get things into perspective.
British society is unfortunately extremely inequal in terms of region, class and money particularly. Just a look at a map of health care and life expectancy in different regions of the UK shows the problem. As Britain is historically made up of an extremely diverse range of cultures and ethnicities going back centuries, dividing things in terms of white or non-white is too simplistic and just fragments society (although there should be measures to ensure that racism is eliminated - unfortunately, like sexism, it is sometimes too subtle to be clamped down on in a society where 'old boys' networks' still run the country.)
Everyone suffers alike when they are on or below the breadline, no matter what their ethnicity, culture or sex. The debate surely should be "Why, in a country with a fairly strong economy, should anyone lack a decent standard of living and healthcare?"
If we divide ourselves, we will be conquered by those in power. The poem by Martin Niemoller "First they came..." illustrates the dangers of a divided society. (link below)

Well I am an American. Sometimes we would like to have your race problems. Ours go deeper. I admire the British in some ways and in others I don't. I had an ancestor who drew a pension for serving with Charles Sumter and another for service with Francis Marion, the swamp fox. No, I don't think whites in Great Britain are second class citizens. I just think Great Britain is still having problems socially from a legacy of conquering the world. You need to keep in mind one mans freedom, is anothers oppression. For that matter why did you ever go to Scotland and Ireland and start the ball rolling?

You are seeing the normal progression, result and cost of bias, prejudice, racism and colonialism. For centuries non-whites under British rule have felt like 3rd class citizens in their own country.
Suck it up and stop complaining of a few months at 2nd class. You people ought to experience what we have as punishment for your self appointment as head of the food chain.
You should feel like the class you belong to even when non-whites are treated the same as whites. This is truly why you are upset - we have been 'awarded' a tiny bit of the respect and privilege you enjoy and you want the little back.
America whites have gone through it but with Bush and his other Klansmen the country will slowly creep back to the good old days.
Think of it as cyclical and you may be able to sleep tonight.

It's a fair question but to answer this we have to accept that a class system exists in this country the government would have us believe there isn't one but who are they trying to kid. how far does the class system go upper middle middle lower or what . if your refer to the influx of migrants in the country then that poses a different answer are we being treated less that an immigrant arriving in the country i really dont think so people have got to live and yes some people need the support systems more than others but that was already happening in this country before the recent migations we cannot blame people wanting a new start in this country for the problems that exist a lot of the difficulties that now appear were identified in the early sixties yet progressive governments failed to address the problems be it labour or conservative they both looked at the issues of the day and did not have the foresight to look ahead now we are seeing these problems unfold and british born people are beginning to feel left out.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that you are 2nd class citizens but i do agree that political correctness has gone too far, i find it ridiculous that you can't wear a crucifix and i'm a non - white hindu, British culture is being lost because of what and may or may not be politcally correct and potentially racist. It is like taking frogs and snails out of france, or tulips out of holland. I don't think muslims should be allowed to wear the veils in public, just because first the veil was only introduced because it proved useful against sandstorms in the deserts and second whenever i visit a muslim country i wear one just out of respect for that culture, what about respect for british culture. and i did not intend this to be against muslims or anything i believe it is the same for hindus and sikh's too.

The White Trash (majority) definitely are...! - but the rich still live very well indeed - (safely fenced-off in their gated estates...!) While the rest - (educated middle-classes with the smarts to get out - yearning to join the 'White-Flight' exodus across Le Manche) - are busy liquidating their UK assets to buy a better, blue-skyed, low-cost life-style among pastures new in la Belle Francais.

I would make a distinction between English and other Brits. Scots and Welsh people (not to mention the Irish) already know what it is like to feel like a second class citizen in what is meant to be their own country. the English are now simply reaping the rewards of centuries of colonialism and are finding it hard to accept that they are considered more of an international embarassment than some kind of a master race. They labour under an illusion of military might when in fact, they are struggling militarily against developing nations. Tough times, boys. Tough times.
