I was born and raised in a multicultural area.
Sometimes I feel a strong desire to be around people of similar ethnicbackground. They have never been the strongest of my target groups though. They just make me feel good in a pleasant sort of way, like I am a part of something bigger. How much sense does it really make?

Do you ever wonder why blacks have a hard time to get back on there feet as do rest of other race in U.S? I personally feel it has to do with history.

When the black came to America as slaves one of the most important thing the white race did was to destroy their ‘personal” history. Meaning unless you can tell whom your grand father was or great grandfather was you have a loss sense being a full individual.

For example, I came here to U.S. from Taiwan and my father came here from china. I can see the progress from each generation. I feel right when I see Anime (Japanese animation) or eat Chinese food. The history is within the physical me by my genes.

An Orphan or single parent kids if they have very little family member around them, then they will have a strong sense of lose of who they are. But is this a good thing? In U.S. to some it is a “YES”. Why? Because in this country we think of our self as not tie down to our past that limit us to what we can do. That is the ideal behind immigration (A new start). And Why Europe will never be better then U.S. because they have too much history and changes are harder for them to accept.

I know who I am because of my past. I know why I like and love a certain things and people because it is part of my biological make up. But in this country it does not limit me to what I “can” have or reach for.

It should not limit you either.

Plenty. I'm the opposite though, I hate being around and about my ethnic group. Not for any real reason, I just am more comfortable around every other race but my own -don't get me wrong i love my culture and skin color etc its just that I was brought up in a very multi cultural boarding school so I don't feel it. I feel like they expect you to feel it or want you to or something like that so it makes me even more uncomfy. Anyway it makes sense if you do feel that way though.
