i think that that's just part of the reason that there are increases in young people obesity, there are a lot more reasons like cheap, available junk food at some places you can buy a hamburger and a large fries for 99 cents. kids are becoming independent fast and they make meals for themselves when they come home from school, obviously there not going to cook some rice there going to fry some fries or make them selves a sub. of course young people now prefer sitting indoors in front of not only the computer but also the television and video games, if not to long ago they prefer going out doors and riding their bikes which qualified for some physical activity the most activity done now is walking up to find the remote control. and yada, yada, yada, keep on going on with stuff like that and expand all of the points you make.

Could be but I cannot say it is a direct result. The are more direct issues such as junk food, eating too much. By leisure activities with computer, it is true that many would sit in front of it for hours. But say if you eat normally, chances are you won't get fat just because you don't have enough exercise, but just that you won't be as healthy if you do.

Computers and video games. Kids are spending more time indoors on their butts, where they might have been outside playing sports or other activities before this technology came along.
Also, inside stuff leads to more snacking. That goes for television, too. Everyone needs to spend at least part of every day in some sort of physical activity. The more strenuous the better!

I don't think you can blame the computer and games. The Parents/Guardians bought the computer and games. The Parents/Guardians aren't enforcing exercise or set limit of computer play time. There are the active games released by PlayStation 2. They are games and promote activity. I think it comes down to the parents that purchase cheap junk food and don't model proper eating habits, allows kids to sit down too long without timed game play. Call their kids when the Simpson's are on instead of letting them play in the backyard on the trampoline.
I am a dad and sometimes at the end of a hard day at work it is easier to let the kids play XBOX and leave you alone. And then suck up to them because you feel guilty about not spending family time with them by putting chips, coke and mars bars in front of them. That way you are the cool parent not the responsible parent. My youngest was getting pudgy and we cut down all game play times, watched what he ate....and sent him outside to play. He lost weight and had heaps of fun. He still plays Xbox, Gamecube and the GBA. But it is not ALL DAY in his pyjamas.
Also many schools don't provide enough physical activity per week.
Blame the adults not the kids or the games.

I agree, I beleive that playstations, gameboys, computers, etc. those are a risk factor in alot of young people getting fat. B/c their too lazy to get out and do anything, like play outside, playground, sports. Kids these days are lazy. b/c all they do is sit at home and play with there elcetronics.

.................. computer cannot blamed for it ........... just because it is more interesting .. cannot be used against it .......... that way you start the blame with the chair you sit on .............. the whole blame starts with the person who does not give importance to health ......... here onwards you can start the argument ............ again .......
