Why do you need to rent a car in Singapore. It's cheaper and easier to use public transport. Either taxi's which are very cheap or the train system. Rental car in Singapore is not cheap and then you have parking on top of that. The hotel may point you to a taxi service. Singapore roads aren't so good if you don't know your way around

My advice to you is to get a Taxi driver (rates for chartered is S$25-S$30 per hour)than to use a private driver as mention above.I have also answer your other questions u have make pls refer.More ever most of the Taxi driver knows all that good local food in Singapore.I am sure you will enjoy it.In the event if this Taxi driver is trying to do something funny,you can report to the repective Taxi company by noting the car reg no. take my advice and you will not regret.Enjoy your stay here.Taxi companies numbers are mention above.

Most major car rental companies (Avis, Hertz, Budget etc) have offices in Singapore. There are also many smaller/local car rental companies available. Check with your travel agent or the hotel you are staying, should not be difficult and the prices are very competitive. Have fun :-)
