If you have your programs on disc, you can just re-install them when you want them.
I'd stick to what you're doing, and use Ccleaner as well. It safely cleans out old registry keys that get left behind. It has 2 main uses; the Cleaner which you can use every day, and the Issues button.
When you use the Issues button the forst tim you'll get a huge list of stuff. Don't try to do it all at once, and let Ccleaner back up the registry. The backup sits in your My Documents folder, if it accidentally uninstals something you need you can put it back by double clicking the backup file.
(I've never needed to, its pretty safe!)

Hello,
if you would like to run a full disc cleanup i reccomend you use something called Crap Cleaner. You can download this from www.ccleaner.com and it is free and very very good. You can select how weel you want it to delete it and it removes it perminetly off of your computer hard-drive. It also emtys out the recycle bin and temp internet files, cookies, net history and more. it give s a list of what it cleans on their website. www.ccleaner.com

Well AVG works quite well and if you don't know what that is, its a virus program that scans your computer, and it will come up with files that you don't need and all, and if you delete all your temp. Internet files, cookies and all that, that will help. You should prob do all that before you do the computer Disk Clean Up.

All should be relatively safe. Just make sure you have confirmed that you don't want the stuffs in your recycle Bin..
Other things you can clear includes History, Cache from internet explorer Tools-->Internet Options.

All the programmes you don't really use ......... the clean up is basically asking you to get rid of any programmes that you no longer have use for.
