switch on the "Optimized battery or power" feature, which is found in laptop system's built-in power management device or control panel. This feature is also sometimes referred to as "max battery" mode in some systems. Also use commands (found in the same area) to reduce the amount of time the laptop stays on without activity before powering itself down and going to "sleep." For example, turning off power-draining facilities like backlights can save a lot of battery waste.

Check to see if the laptop had the right amount of Random Access Memory (RAM) for your needs. RAM is used to run instructions from programs with a computer's memory instead of its hard drive disk, where it stores data. You need less power to refresh RAM than to spin the hard drive, so having the correct amount of RAM means less drain on your laptop battery.

Remove the battery and clean its metal contacts with alcohol (ideallydo this every two months), allowing it to dry thoroughly before replacing it. This makes sure the power transfer between the laptop and its battery is as efficient as possible.

Unplug any accessories connected to the laptop that are not in use. Such accessories are powered by the battery and drain power even if they are not currently being used. Also make sure to turn the WLAN switch off if not needed to be connected wirelessly.

Always try and use the laptop in the best lighting conditions so you do not have to rely on the brightness of the screen to work. High screen or LCD brightness drains battery life.

Lastly, defrag the hard drive, making sure the laptop system can operate as efficiently as possible to help save battery life. The built-in utility (often found in the control or management panel of your system) included with Windows*-based systems rearranges file fragments so they are closer together on the hard drive. This decreased the amount of time the system spends searching for files in the laptop's hard drive, minimizing the amount of battery power used to spin the hard drive disk.

Always keep the laptop/battery in a cool dry place. The screen should be always with a low brightness and also set the screen to shut while not in use.
Minimise the usage of the battery.

Cheers...!!
