Why is what doctors do called "practice"?

it isn't their work, it is their clients & their business that is called a "practice"-- when they have their own office for their own clients to come to...

yeah... i don't like the idea of it being called a "practice" no matter what!!! they had better not practice on me!!!

Manipulating the nature's self-corrective, in built mechanism, to give a desired 'doctored' direction and result, can remain only as a practice, and not a perfected technique !

The origin of the word "practice" simply means "the carrying out or exercise of a profession." Same use in soemthing like religion or aesthetics.
(ORIGIN late Middle English)

The modern meaning of the word "practice," in the sense of repetitive action leading (hopefully) to the attainment of perfection, only recently came into use, and has completely different origins.
(the verb from Old French practiser or medieval Latin practizare.)

Doctors are practitioners always because they practice to attend patients as each patient is different and they cannot be imitated.

practice makes perfect. if you where to never have to go back, then he could be called perfect. but most of the time, they practice different things on you till you are healed or they acidentally kill you.....wooops, sorry guy....we are geany pigs
