I think first you should pick a name that doesn't have any association with someone you know or knew. Also make sure the initials don't spell out or mean anything...Example. E.G.G., R.A.T., K.Y, and so on...A few names I like:

Girl
Jasmine
Hannah
Faith
Ava
Grace
Mia
Christine

Boy
Jacob
Daniel
Christian
Gabriel
Derick

Good Luck!

Research the meaning of the name you ultimately choose, it will have an effect on your child. Personally, I like Sebastian or Timothy for boy; and Hillari or Gabrielle for a girl.
