I mean couldn't they afford a Russian translator?? How many Rubles would it have taken????

That is because they were not all Soviets. Watch the movie again and they tell you some of the invaders were from other countries such as Cuba.That is why they were speaking Spanish .Cuba by the way is allied with the Soviet Union

Watch it again CLOSELY the Soviets are allied with Cuban and I believe Nicaraguan forces who speak Spanish, the Soviets all spoke Russian. Even most of the armored vehicles and tanks were authentic Soviet gear. They went all out for that movie.

I wouldn't say all cool people speak Spanish but a lot of them do I do speak some spanish but I was married for 7 years to a man from a spanish speaking country and I picked it up a little bit

I seem to remember the Soviets speaking Russian and the latin american army that sided with them spoke spanish. Maybe I need to watch it again. The two russians who found the plastic arrow were definately speaking russian.

To many during the cold war. The only reason they got us in that movie. Is because they flood us with people.
