I think as we get older, it's natural for the roles to reverse-- our parents become the children and we become the aduts. We begin to believe we have more wisdom, smarts and common sense than our parents, who's ideas may be too outdated, or 'old school'. So as we get older, there's definitely a sense of mistrust, whereas when we were children, we trusted our mother's instincts, ideals, and authority without question.

Our mothers have lived such full lives, with so many different life experiences under their belts, and even if we think they're wrong or have made a mistake, it's always been my philosophy to listen to every word my mother says and take away from it anything that may apply to my own life-- whether she has said something that I may or may not agree with.

Mothers are only human. Someday she will let you down. She may not mean to but it happens to us all. Most likely she will even think she is doing you a favor by protecting you.

My mother is too trusting. When I was younger I was badly abused because she didn't see what was happening. Even now, she gets taken advantage of financially and while I'm not in a position to protect her, I can at least use caution when it comes to my own funds and not trust her judgment.

She will lie to you if she thinks it's for your own good. You can't trust her to not do that. On the other hand you CAN trust her to sometime violate your trust. Even if, and perhaps especially if, she's all in all a good mother.

You should always be able to trust your mother. The only reason that you shouldnt trust your own mother is if she is a crack head and or dope fiend. If you have either of those, just dont trust her with money, or any financial decisions because she will spend all her money up her arm.

I could always trust my mother no matter what--and always count on her. I have heard this is not true with everyone though.

im sorry to tell you that not all of us can trust our mothers. i know that i cant. she was never there for me as a child, and has let me down more times than i can count as an adult. i am just starting to rebuild a friendship with her, but she has long way to go before earning my trust.
