Since energy is not conserved in the usual sense, some of the potential energy was not completely converted to kinetic energy, in fact it was converted to heat energy because of friction forces like the kinetic friction between the child and the slide and the drag force which is proportional to the childs area and speed.

the amount of heat energy generated is 100 Joules.

Frictional energy.
Sound energy.
Air frictional (eddy currents).
Heat energy.

Loss of energy, it's the difference between the two values.
Loss of energy = 1000J - 900J
Loss of energy = 100 J
