sweety relax. eat whatever you feel like eating. If you are not meant to eat it, your body will not want it and not keep it down. You are pregnant not sick, your body is a very beautiful and powerful piece of work. Just remember that too much of anything is a bad thing. Congrats

Congratulations,
What foods should you avoid?
* Raw and slightly cooked eggs, as there is a risk of salmonella poisoning.
* Soft cheeses, such as camembert and brie, pate, sliced meats or chopped chicken, raw meat, raw fish and any pre-made salads that have been standing for a while, as there is a risk of listeriosis. This is a from of food poisoning caused by the listeria bacteria sometimes found in these types of refrigerated foods. Listeriosis is associated with miscarriage and stillbirth. It is recommended that while you are pregnant you only eat freshly prepared foods.
Can you take vitamins?
It is best to get your vitamins and minerals from the food you eat. Please consult your doctor before taking any vitamin supplementations during pregnancy.
Vitamin A supplements should be avoided in the first trimester, as vitamin A is stored by the body and has been linked with birth defects.
Your doctor will recommend you take a folate supplement until the 12th week. You cannot overdose on vitamin B & C. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends that all pregnant women should take supplementary iron. Large doses of iron can, however, be associated with constipation. Your doctor will be able to offer you further advice on this.
It is advised that you give up caffine, but as long as your not drinking coffee all day then it wold be fine to have a few cups. They also say you should drink more water then tea or coffee.
Hope everything goes well and this infomation is helpful to you.

You need to go to a OB/GYN and get a prescription for pre-natal vitamins, or pick up some over the counter pre-natal vitamins, you can get them at any Wal-Mart or other store that carries other vitamins. Pre-natal vitamins will have enough folic acid and other things your baby needs, but if you become anemic the Dr. will also give you an iron supplement. Don't take any extra vitamins or minerals besides the pre-natals unless your Dr. specifically tells you to. A cup of coffee a day won't hurt you or the baby, but don't have more than that and don't drink soda very much. As for foods you should avoid, things that are uncooked or unpasteurized, like sushi, feta cheese, anything with raw eggs. And fish can be good for you, but some fish is high in mercury and that is very bad for your baby. It sounds like you might not have a Dr. yet, if not then make an appointment right away. Women who have consistent pre-natal care have healthier babies and are healthier themselves. Good Luck and Congratulations!!!!

Since you are pregnant, the most reliable information will come from a healthcare professional. If you don't have the money to spend, there is tons of free advice at Planned Parenthood offices, your local hospital or the maternal/child health organization with your state. Take the advice you receive over this medium with a grain of salt. You could also research this information on medical sites on the internet, or go to aj.com or google.com and type in your question and you are sure to get some valid information. Good Luck and Bless You! P.S. Caffiene is not really good for the baby, so eliminate it if you can, or decrease it as much as you can. You can forgo that coffee until the baby is born, the health of the child is all that matters anyway. . .

In the first trimester stay away from most any stimulant or depressive. Vitamins are ok, coffee is ok once and while. You don't want your baby addicted to anything when it is born, or it will scream when it doesn't have it, and scream and scream. Stay away from alcohol and caffeine in large amounts (both ok once and a while in the second trimester, and in small amounts), and of course crack and blow and whatever, and eat a well balanced diet. Of course give in to you food cravings. My wife was all into pickles when she was pregnant. Vitamins aren't really necessary if you just eat halfway decently. That's basically a trick to get you to buy more vitamins. Just eat halfway healthy, get excercise, and later when he/she is kicking and keeping you awake, just have half a glass of wine (Last Trimester). Works like a charm. Good luck and Congrats!

You should take a Pre Natal vitamin - that is sufficient as far as vitamins. As far as the coffee - I don't know of a OB that will tell you you can't have a cup a day, however that is a personal decision (as personal as drinking alcohol while you're pregnant, because that's not illegal yet). I personally didn't even drink caffinated soda while I was pregnant. Totally up to you! :)

The doctor should have let you know what pre-natal vitamins to take - especially folic acid to prevent birth defects. A big thing you need to watch for is mercury levels from fish such as tuna - that is fresh, real tuna. It's recommended to have it only once a week. Canned tuna is no problem, however. Sounds like you need more info from your doctor and maybe a nutritionist. No coffee or caffeine from stuff like cola. No booze or drugs. Just try to eat as healthily as possible - cut down on processed foods.

Hi! Congrats! You should avoid eating mangoes and if you eat fruit or veggies make sure they are fresh and peeled as insecticides can be present on the surface and not good for health. Avoid fish and other seafood because it can cause food poisoning. Eat well cooked meats. Cut out all forms of caffeine. Drink lots of water and milk. If you don't like milk then try yogurt. You should take pre-natal vitamins daily. Make sure that they have folic acid this is very important in the first trimester. High fiber foods are good because they keep you regular and give you energy. Eat whatever your craving as long as its nutritional. My doc told me to eat whatever I could because in my first pregnancy I had terrible morning sickness and couldn't hold much down. I ate crackers, cereal, fruit, oatmeal, and light things. Good luck!

if you can live with decaf coffee, a cup wont hurt... Stay away from more then 12 oz a week of fish.. definantly stay away from alcohol as much as possible.. stay away as much as possible from fabricated sugars (cookies, candybars, etc) gestational diabetes is on the rise in pregnant woman and can lead to complications later in life.. I would stay away from pop as much as possible (especially if you're going to have a morning cup of cofee) and definantly stay away from Energy drinks.. They're horrible for you.. Tons of water and tons of juice.. I would limit the intake of red meat also.. eat alot of chicken/pork.. eat tons and tons of veggies! If you have a sweet craving, eat pineapple, a sweet treat that has natural sugars.. Frozen pineapple is the best... Pre-natal vitamins are awesome.. consider taking folic acid too... Hopefully this helps... If you do need something really sinful (chocolate, etc) take a walk after... A healthy body during pregnancy makes for an easier labor

Threre are special pre-natal vitamins that contain enough folic acid to avoid neurological birht defects and a good balance of other vitamins to help both of you during this time. Keep a low salt intake to avoid excessive water retention and pre-eclamsia. You need to drink about 10 glasses of water per day. yes, 10 glasses. I did so except for one day, and whent into premature labor! Luckily they stopped it at the hospital. Avoid foods with lots of preservatives. A lot of processed food has a lot of preservative like MSG and its bad for your baby. And get a good Obstetritian or midwife to look at you every month and to guide you, answer your questions and advice you what to eat. Those parenting prep courses are not a bad idea for first time mothers specially if your spouse can come along. They can be quite ignorant and to hear out what is happening to your body makes them more aware, enlightened and sympathetic! Good luck

Congratulations!
You should avoid caffeine as this stops the iron absorbing into your system and can lead to aneamia, don't eat peanuts as this can trigger allergies in your baby, don't eat shell fish for the same reasons.
Don't eat pate, blue cheeses and soft yolk eggs.
Don't eat too much tuna and stay away from liver.
You should start taking folic acid until you are 12 weeks pregnant.
Good luck
Oh yeah don't eat home made mayonnaise either just the one in the jars.
