My daughter is 21 months now I keep diapers and wipes stocked well in advance. i go to wholesale stores and buy them in bulk. When she was a new born. my wife and I probally made a box of 270 last about 2 weeks cost was probally 32 bucks for the box.. We changed her often not wanting to deal with diaper rash. I keep wipes stockpiled use them for wiping her face and hands after she eats and to the rest of the business. 10 packs of wipes was about 11 bucks. the formula was the expense part. We bought cases of formula on ebay form other parents that were well within there expiration date that were local just there kids were moving on from it. formula was always the major expense. i think formula for my kid came out to 9 bucks a day but she had some allergies also. good luck its a blast......

It doesn't usually hurt at all when the baby kicks. Once in a while, later in pregnancy, the baby may get in a funny position or do some odd thing that can make you get some little weird, uncomfortable, thing for a minute or two or even fifteen. It isn't a big deal.
You need a week's worth of diapers for a newborn baby, and if I remember correctly, I think you need to change a newborn about five or six times a day. You also need a week's worth of formula if you're going to bottle feed. You may need to buy disposable bottles if you use those. If you breast feed there may be some other items you'll need. Its difficult to give a figure on how much it costs per week (other than diapers and formula) because sometimes mothers who have more money spend on things they don't have to or buy better diapers while someone with less money can make do with less.
The cost of a baby is more a yearly thing, especially if you have to pay for immunizations, bigger size clothing every few months, etc.

Hi! Yes! Sometimes it does hurt if your baby pushes or kicks on a nerve. But don't worry about that. It usually starts to get more uncomfortable towards the very end. Your doctor will tell you how to handle that because there are so many little exercises.
About the second question! That's tricky. If you are having a shower and most of the basic necessities are gifted then you won't have to pocket too much other than: formula costs (if your not nursing), diapers, medical fees, etc. After we purchased all the other stuff (furnished the nursery, the carseat, stroller, clothes, all the big stuff) it costs about $200 per month for her total needs. We keep on a budget and the extra money left over is spent on new clothes and toys. You can get them all at decent prices if you shop around. Burlington Coat Factory has some great prices on clothing and bedding. Wal-Mart has terrible clothing selection but their formula and diapers are cheaper. Target has a super selection of baby toys. Hope I helped!

Formula can be anywhere from $2.90 to over $3 a can. Not sure about the powder kind. I know it's cheaper, but harder for babies to digest.
In the beginning they go through a can in about 2 days. At 5 months, my son is going through a can plus some in a day. He's 16 lbs. 10 ounces.
Diapers - I buy them by the case at Sam's so it's hard to tell how many we go through. I think about 8 or 10 a day for the baby. For my 2 year old daughter, about 6. It's a huge expense. A case costs anywhere from $20 to $34. Diapers are also sold in convenient smaller packages that cost $10, if you can't afford $20 at a time.
Tylenol is $7 a bottle. Gas Drops are about $6. I go through gas drops like crazy.
Doctor visits at 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 2 years. Shots at most all of the visits.
Medicine when they get colds.
Not to mention, clothes, toys, assorted baby gear. If you can get stuff at garage sales, go for it. The only thing I would get new is a car seat and high chair because they always make safety upgrades to those items.
Best of luck.
Expensive, but well worth it.
Oh, and yes their kicks can hurt you. Especially when their feet are under your ribcage.

The kicking can hurt, depending on where the child is kicking. Both of mine liked to kick upwards into my ribcage. Ouch!
As for the cost of caring for a newborn, that will depend on if you are breastfeeding or formula feeding. Breastfeeding is way cheaper, but it can become a hassle if you want to go back to work. My husband and I are formula feeding our second son(after breastfeeding for 8 weeks), and I think we were spending about 40 dollars a week for formula by the time he was just over 2 months. Then there's the diapers....that's a big kicker. My son was going through a fairly large pack of diapers about every week, sometimes less.

i dont know what the costs are as it was a zillion years ago i had a child. check the price of newborn diapers, and formula if you arent going to nurse, and maybe even if you are. you need a baby bed, a baby monitor is a good idea, and a stroller and a car seat if you plan to drive the child around. it will need several little onsie suits, mostly with legs and long sleeves if it will be born soon, short sleeved and short legged ones if it wont be till summer. bibs, blankets, maybe a snow suit if you are taking it out in cold weather, i dont know where you are or when it will be born. it really doesnt hurt when it kicks but you can feel it.

It hurts when you get kicked in the ribs or it tries to kick your bladder
Go to the store and make a list of what you think you will need
As for the cost Be prepared to be really broke It also depends if you breastfeed and what kind of formula you buy and what brands of diapers you get
Then you also got to have plenty of clothes for your baby and laundry soap like Dreft for washing them so your baby wont get a rash from whatever laundry soap you use

My babies didn't hurt when they kicked until about week 32 on when they stretch and their head is on your pelvis and their feet are pressing on your ribs. I was in school with my second, and I couldn't sit in a desk some days because of the stretching pain. If you're less than 20 weeks and it's "painful" I'd talk to your doctor about it. Best wishes :)

My first son was a vicious kicker - especially up under my ribs. But it is really just discomfort. Anything more painful and you really should seek medical advice. All babies are different and the cost depends on formula versus breastfed, disposable nappies versus cloth, child care if required - I don't think anyone can tell you what they cost.
