Was the drive installed as your primary HD or is it an additional drive to accompany one you already have?

If this is a "secondary drive" then I would make sure you have the jumper settings on the back set correctly as a "slave" drive.

I agree with check the jumper, but usually that 'click' is the sign of physical drop damage. Either the controller magnet got misaligned or something is interfering with the actuator arm, either electrical or physical. In all honesty, I think you are looking at returning to the point of purchase and exchanging it.
