a little movie trivia?

Question

Animal house was filmed mostly on University of Oregon at Eugene campus (been there seen most of the places shown).
But something else famous happened there. What other movie took place (true story) at the stadium you see in a couple of scenes in the background?
Hint: its a track stadium

umm unless the graduate was about a famous track star,,, then no.

hmm dont know where Chariots of Fire took place but no thats not it.

One more Hint: This took place around the same time as "Munich" and was about a guy who was a very famous (till he died) track star. He died just off campus.

Hint: there has been at least 3 movies about this guy, all by his name (title of the movie).

Steve Bo (or however its spelled) Fontaine

He died one night (not sure if he was drunk or not) driving along a road just off campus. He hit a rock flipped his car.
The rock has a plaque on it now.

Lucky! I went to the University of Arizona and the only big movie filmed there was the original Revenge of the Nerds...not something you'd really like to brag about. Of course there was an episode of Little House on the Prairie filmed there too.
