Jericho (TV Show) Who set off the nuclear expolsions in the first episode, and who are we firing missles at?

On tonight's show (episode 5) there were missles being launched at the end. Who do you think we are firing the missles at? And who do you think exploded the bombs in the first episode?

Despite people assuming that the Chinese or Russkiis were responsible because of the China Central TV broadcast, or the Russian-language website Hawkins looked at with his satellite internet access, we don't have a solid clue who actually detonated the weapons.

We also don't know who ordered the ICBM launches, or where they're going. I doubt they're heading to Russia or China. I suspect they're on their way to some "rogue nation" or group thereof, who can't fight back with ICBMs of their own.

I think this is going to turn out like "Sum of All Fears," where the most obvious source of the disaster was not the cause. I suspect some "super al-Qaeda" or perhaps even a domestic Fifth Column. The four-day delay in US response with ICBMs leads me to believe the surviving government waited to figure out who did it (as in "Sum of All Fears," you can tell where radioactive materials came from), before going ape-sh** and just lashing out. As for the surviving government, note that the phone call was read by the "Assistant Secretary." That means Washington apparently bought it without warning, wiping out most of the government officials. The "Assistant Secretary" of DHS might be the acting National Command Authority.

I think the entire thing is a government test to see how a small community would react if cut off by nuclear holocaust. if that many bombs had exploded they would have nuclear winter and be dead now from radiation ... Hawkins is working for the government or perhaps the whole thing is a group of terrorist started it to make us shoot ours off... but I think it is bogus.
I think Jake is the good guy and was working CIA or something..

Too hard to tell the shows writers want to keep us guessing and to keep tuning in . I love it though. It is great.
