I've always been told to associate colors with different items, hot water = red, ice = blue, purple smells like lavender, pink something soft, brown is dirt or tree bark, or maybe even chocolate. green are plant leaves, grass, or maybe something gooey/icky or even mint leaves might be good. Black might be charcoal, coffee? Grey might be ash from a fire place or barbecue. White might be the scent of vanilla, yellow is lemon. and well orange is orange.
