And, which is the worst in your experience and why? I'm tired of my satellite service, have had Dish Network & Direct TV. should I get cable through the regular company or through a phone company & how are they different, any ideas or suggestions? Also, bill keeps going up and up with Satellite. Thanks

I live in Southern California, my satellite bill is over $ 100 with Dish Network and I'm about to call my attorney as they have been billing me for a 2nd DVR & was never installed, I have HD TVs and they just want to rip me off, I'm returning their equipment even though they want 4 rcvrs back, only had 3 all along & they don't want to cooperate, I've been dealing w/this for over 1yr 1/2

Hey Intellect,

That's too bad that you have to go through so much through Dish Network.

Unfortunately, there's no perfect service. I've seen people complain about all of the services.

With the cost of the package you have, it seem like you have more than just the basics. To get that many channels on cable would cost you a lot more...and the same for DirecTV.

I personally haven't had any issues with Dish Network myself. I've had to deal with amateur installers, but you'll find those with any service.

If you're having big issues, try to go beyond the customer service rep on the phone and ask for a manager if you are getting ripped off. Make sure that you're talking to Dish Network instead of an affiliated company. If you're still not having luck, call at another time and hopefully you'll be able to talk to a more sensible customer service rep.

About your bills going up and up, you'll find that with any service. It's just the plain laws of economics.

If you plan to get cable, Time Warner is the key company in southern California.

Satellite is cheaper than cable in the long run. You're better off sticking w/ sat. We used to have an RCA satellite. For some reason tho, it was illegal... for us in Canada anywayz... :( We had pretty much everything. There was ALWAYZ a good movie on, & I mean ALWAYZ !!! I don't know how many channels there were for movies but I'd say a good 50. When a new movie would come on the movie chans, there'd be 4 playing @ once. So if you missed half of an hr of it, you could catch it when it played again. We had Direct TV on there too & HBO. Not everything but it was the BEST sat we had.

We eventually had to get Star Choice cuz the guy who was our dealer or whatever got caught & so we lost our RCA :'( Other than RCA, I'm guessing that the next best thing is Star Choice, but even THAT isn't that great... There aren't enough movie channels & there's not alwayz something good playing. I'm not just talking movies, I mean shows in gen.

You could try digital cable... That might be something that you'd prefer. My ex (his bro also) has digital cable & his bro told me the other day that he pays $65 for his digital cable. He gets a lot of channels, but not quite as many as RCA. I'm guessing that it's prob legal in the U.S. Is that even where you live ? Or you could go w/ basic cable. Where I live (MB,Canada) it costs $30 for basic cable.

Hope I've helped !!! Good luck !

I sued dish network for about 6 months.... I got maby 20 hours of service in overall. The other times it was out because there were clouds in the sky... I swiched to cable . I can say my cable has not been off even one time.. I also find the cable internet faster and cheeper than satellite .. I have found that packet8 phone service that works with cable only very good. It has unlimmited long distance and unlimmited calling for 14 dollars a month.. Cable is much better than satellite in my mind.;

We live in the country and do not have access to cable. We have dish network and are very happy with it most of the time. The biggest problem is that when it is raining or snowing or storming we lose the satellite link. And in an area known for having tornadoes, that's when we need it most. But, when you have no choice you take the good with the bad if you want to watch TV.

When I lived in Georgia, we had Comcast and I loved them. Their rates were great and service was awsome. I live in El Paso, Texas, and the only cable company out here is Time Warner and I think they SUCK! Cable is constantly going out, you can never get through to customer service, the line is either busy, it never stops ringing or you go to voice mail. I usually spend half an hour calling until I get through. Their "combo" pack is more expensive than if you did internet with one company cable with another and phone with abother. Their a ripoff and their customer service SUCKS and they are always late to help. I had a guy come to install it and he was 7 hours late. The company offered me a $10 discount. I got mad at the girl, "$10 for a 7 hour waite? I had things to do! I want my first month free and instalation fee waived". Had to talk to a supervisor to get that, but I think their Crap. It took me 2 months of calling back to get the discount I was promised because they "kept forgetting to put it on my bill". I hate them, I want to go back to Comcast.
