How can I reinforce a seam on a fragile polyester costume?

I have a costume. Its snug fitting. But the fabric is so flimsy, its wanting to split on stress points. How can I reinforce the seams without heat and resewing the seam itself.
Im afraid that the stiching would cause more holes.

I would need to see to be sure. What you may try is thin strip of cardboard (like from a shoe box) or strip of thicker fabric sewed along the weak areas on the inside.

"Duct tape" on the inside seam, u can fix anything with duct tape
