I figure I might get a few answers here.

I'm currently 10 weeks 6 days preggers. I'm having the worst case of insomnia(3-4 times a week) I've tried most tips I could find online regarding warm baths. Cutting out caffeine after lunch, No naps during the day. Chamomile tea before bed.

I've currently moved out of our bed, been sleeping on the couch last few days and even pulled out the bed in our other couch this evening. I lay there. FOREVER and cant get to sleep.

I had my first Midwives appointment this past Monday all all I remembered to ask was in regards to my wicked nausia. Of course I had decent sleep sunday night so insomnia was not on my brain.

SINCE finding out I was pregnant 5 weeks agoI've called in sick at least once a week. AND all last week.

I really cant afford to be taking more time off. Maybe I should call back my midwifes to see if they can suggest anything

Hi! I noticed two things that jumped out at me when I read this. First you said that you are sleeping in a different place than you usually sleep on the sofa/sofabed. Maybe this change in sleep environment could be part of it. Secondly, you said that it's affecting your work and that you have bad nausea. Maybe a lot of this is just happening from physical stress related to early pregnancy? You could also be worried about the financial strains involved with having another child and there are so many things to cause worry. I am 11 weeks along and have had sleeplessness a few times myself because I worry about the unknown.
I guess what I am trying to say is that you should try to talk these worries out with your loved ones. It may help make you feel more secure about things.
My other issue was that I am a tummy sleeper and now have to again get used to sleeping on my side. But I've finally gotten that down and now hug a body pillow for support. I sleep so good this way. Good luck to you and I hope that you find the source of your problem or that it phases out soon.

To quote a famous movie, "I don't know nothin' about birthin' no babies." But I do know insomnia.
First get a little pad of paper and write down problems as they happen. All the problems. This does two things: It gives you reference when you see the doc. You don't forget what was bothering you before you sat in the waiting room for an hour.
It also lets you let go of those issues for the time being. Let the pad carry the burden.
For sleeping: You may be trying too hard. The no caffeine, etc. are good rules to live by. Turn off all the electronics---computer, TV, radio, etc. Get a good book. I like mysteries. Sometimes loosing yourself in others fiction puts you right out.
Good luck.

Well in my case I was diagnosed a severe manic depressant which contributed to insomnia and addiction. I finally asked for help and was prescribed Zoloft and Trazadone. The longest I ever stayed up without drugs or alcohol was 12 days straight. If your anything like me take prescribed drugs but I am a pretty severe case.

My first pregnancy was a breeze - my second I had the same problem. With my doctor's approval I tried unisom, and it did wonders. I also discovered later in the pregnancy that my back pain was part of what was keeping me awake, and I started to visit a chiropractor regularly. Of course I wouldn't recommend either of these without your doctor's approval. Best wishes - make sure you're firm with your doctor about doing something because you need that rest :) And you need to be sleeping in your own bed!!! I also purchased a body pillow for support, that helped :)

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

Alcohol might help u here or some valium; it sounds like u have a very stressful week. Also one thing I found to work extremely well is exercise; whenever I have difficulty sleeping I get off my bed and do pushups until I am exhausted; exhaustion is key u should try to do exercise until u can’t do any more. That for me is about 60 - 70 pushups. After that I slept like a log. Works for me every time, without fail.

here's something that works for a lot of people:

take out all tv's, radio, clocks that will keep you distracted.

If you are laying there worried, get up and go into the other room to worry. When you are tired go back and lay down. If you find yourself starting to worry again, get up and go back to your worry spot.

I know it sounds crazy but it works

Write a journal for your baby. You can say how you are feeling and it will ease your mind and relax you so you can get some ZZZs.
