Role models as good politicians and not as acting politicians.

They have a job the same as every other hard working American,. It just so happens their job makes them a celebrity. If you ever listen to them, a lot of them are educated and have college degrees. Being a celebrity puts them more in the lime-light as others. They have the same right to be in public life as any one else. And they could be a good role model. God knows some of our politicians are not good role models.

They should entertain me - they get paid very well to do just that and that's the only role they should play.

When it comes to politics, they should just shut their pie holes and stop trying to convince people that they have all the answers - they don't and they never will.

They have a special talent - that's all - and they should not use their celebrity status as a soap box and preach about their opinions and warped sense of reality like they have some special insight or knowledge that the rest of us dummies don't possess.

None. Entertainment is just their occupation and it should be looked at that way. They only reason it is not is because of the publicity they need to try to intrigue people about themselves outside of their occupations and thus wanting the public to go see their movies or buy their albums and watch thier shows. Publicity is how they make their money and unfortunatly it takes over our society to the point where more people care about j-lo's marital problems than they do about the war in iraq.

By the very nature of their career they take a huge active role in public life.

They enter our homes all day, every day. They portray the best, the worst & the mundane in everyday life, across all societies.

They get to the people who don't watch the news or read newspapers.
They address issues that many are too cowardly or ignorant to approach in real life.

None what so ever. They for the most part are not educated nor do the have the necessary intellect to run their own homes, let alone a whole country. They should remember that being a celeb. does not a leader make. They should stay in their habit hobs and tend to their knitting. and leave the thinking to those who are better equipped for it. They should also realize that they are not real, they are merely Icons that the producers use to make millions.

If you take most current celebrities, I would say absolutely no role other than to entertain. Celebrities are no longer the same, with few exception, they care only for themselves. They no longer offer the integrity they used to, kind of like most politicians!

They are artists.
They are have a powerul voice. They know a lot of what goes on behind the scenes in politcs and how stories are "spun".
They can encorage people to think.
Many of them spoke out against invading Iraq. Too bad no one really listened.
