this only happens while I'm looking in the "d" drive

There seems to be a virus or some bad sectors on your d drive .or there could be some registry problems also. The best thing would be to take backups of all your files and totally formatting the whole hard disk and re-partitioning the hard disk then installing the windows and other softwares. I know this sound very difficuilt but sometime we have to the hard job. Pl install a good anti-virus and anti spyware after you format the hard disk before installing any other software /data.

If your computer hangs or reboots while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. you might be out of hard disk space in that drive
