While driving down a highway my back brake locked up and started smoking. Tried to pry the drum off but no success any advice?

It probably locked up because the spring let loose. You;ll need to take a screw driver and put it in the little slot to turn the adjuster gear, wedging the screwdriver downward, so that the gear turns upward. That will adjust the shoes inward so that they release the pressure on the drum. The slot is usually located at the bottom of the inner face of the rotor assembly.

If the above answers won't work for you (and it should) I would suggest using a sledgehammer. 1st on the brake drum then on the rest of the car.

need to borrow my bertha bar -will come off or break drum-cut lil retaining pins off backing plate and pry a lil more-replacing pins is cheaper than bar i have
