I'll tell you for my neck of the woods, where to go to in Long Beach.
The Wine Country on redondo is the best for Saturday Afternoons and has some scheduled dinners, as well:

Morry's has them too: http://www.morrys.com/
Good luck, let me know what you find to be the best...

The Wine House should be the first place on your list. They have a gigantic place with every wine you can imagine, and they do great special events and tastings daily.

Heritage Wine Company in Pasadena has wine tastings every Thursday through Sunday.
There's DeVine Wines also in Pasadena at Paseo Colorado and they have some tasting events.
There's one more wine shop that has wine tastings on weekends. I forget the name, but it's in Pasadena (quite a good wine town, actually) near Madre's restaurant.
Mission Wines in SOUTH Pasadena (at Mission St. and Fremont Ave.) has tastings every day.
San Antonio Winery was mentioned, but I don't really like their stuff.
BevMo -- of all places -- does have wine tasting occasionally.
Temecula is a 90 minute drive from LA and worth it. Same with Santa Ynez Valley. It's harvest season and this weekend, if you drive to Paso Robles, you can join in their Harvest Festival.

San Antonio Winery is the only existing and fully operating winery within the LA metro area.
A lot of individual wineshops around town (especially the West side) have special dinner and wine tasting events. Contact one that is closest to you and find out what they have going on now that autumn is upon us.

I would contact local wine shops and wine stores and find out if they have any lists or if they do tastings at their location. They will probably be the most in the know. : )

I agree with Crowbird, the San Gabriel Winery is the closest on, it's by Dodger Stadium. All the other wineries are in San Diego or northern California.
