Is four staffing companies too many to go to at once or is it beneficial...the more helping you look for a job, the better.

you are definately on the right track. The more the better. I would keep looking for work and register with a few more agencies. There is always going to be more workers than there are jobs so there is a bit of competion with the staffing agencies. If there is a chance that you get three or more offers at the same time, you now have the freedom to pick and choose. FYI, the more temp assignments you accept, the more likely they are to call you.

Did you mean a temp agency? If you get lucky only one. WHen jobs are hard to find, fan your resume everywhere. It can get expensive so maybe 5 at a time? Stop when you get a few leads. Follow those up. If nothing comes out of it, go down the list..
Remember that resumes are not kept forever so keep tabs on the dates you sent them out.
