First yr is always the hardest yr for newly weds. Depending on what your hubby likes. No one knows him betta than you do. If he's into sports you can consider getting tickets to the game. Since your first yr was so rocky why not pick a romantic weekend getaway and sparks things up again. I am pretty a man rather have a weekend getaway w/his lovely wife than recieving a gift. Congrats on ur 1st yr second yr will be much betta.

Since it is the paper anniversary, get several blank notecards, spray them with perfume, and on each write a clue about where the next one is by telling about something you have done during your first year of marriage/firsts that the two of you have shared and how much those things meant to you. Don't go crazy, but make it last several minutes (maybe 20) so that there is a build up of anticipation, but it isn't aggrivating. Make the paper trail end in the bedroom where you have made up the entire room with new sheets (silk, high TC Egyptian cotton, whatever you think he would like the most), candles, one red rose on the bed (for one year), etc... You can get him a pair of really great silk boxers (or maybe something else that would be considered luxurious that he wouldn't normally buy for himself, but would enjoy) and be wearing them when he arrives at the end of the trail. I don't need to go any further (other than to say, have another first maybe). However, everytime he sees or wears those boxers, he will be thinking about how he got them and it will be an anniversary he will remember. It makes sheets and underwear sound like a much better gift.

The first anniversary gift is supposed to be paper... it could be a heartfelt personal poem on a beautiful card, money, or a really good book that you know he'd enjoy... or all of these things.

My wife took me to a pro-football game. I could not believe it -- it was a great gift. We had almost no money and we sat near the end zone, but that was okay -- I was at the game!

It's all about the concessions -- every double meaning intended.

Good luck!

Guys like gadgets. Get an HDTV or a cool cell phone. If you have T-Mobile I recommend the Sidekick 3.

Give him some IOU's for stuff he hates doing.
Like an "IOU for one week of dinner dishes", or for 1 month of taking out the garbage or something.

At least you know he'll appreciate it!

And congratulations for sticking it out. It will only get better!

Give him homemade coupons for sex. Each time he wants sex for that evening, he can give you a coupon before going to work and you will be prepared for it when he comes home.
