WOW, WHAT A THOUGHT PROVOKING QUESTION. I LOVE QUESTIONS LIKE THESE.
AS MUCH AS I WOULD HATE FOR MY CHILD TO BE BULLIED, I THINK I WOULD HATE IT MORE FOR MY CHILD TO BE THE BULLY, BECAUSE THAT WOULD BADLY REFLECT ME AS A PARENT, AND HOW MUCH OF AN INFLUENCE I HAD OVER MY CHILD AND HIS OR HER BEHAVIOR. I WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT ANY CHILD OF MINE WOULDN'T BE A BULLY. I KNOW THAT I WOULD RAISE MY CHILD UP BETTER THAN THAT. I WAS BULLIED AS A CHILD AND I KNOW FROM FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE HOW IT FEELS, SO I WOULD REALLY BE DISAPPOINTED IF MY CHILD MADE ANOTHER CHILD FEEL AS LOW AS I WAS MADE TO FEEL WHEN I WAS A CHILD.
THANKS FOR THE GREAT QUESTION!

Finding out my child is a bully because being bullied )though horrendous) is not your child's fault but being a bully shows a really bad personality trait that I would be devastated to know my child had.

Actually this is a tough call, but I would say both to A & B. I would not want my child to be bullied, nor have them be a bully and I would teach my child to respect others and to treat people as he/she would want them to treat him/her.
That is what is wrong with today children. That is why there is so many shootings. To many bullies and not enough respect for other people.Maybe parents and teacher could teach children respect also, but then again also give respect. You bought up a very good point especially in todays society and in our school systems. Excellent question. Maybe people will think long and hard on this question and hopefully do something about it.

If I found out my child was a bully I'd be furious, as I've brought him up to be respectful and kind.
I would be very upset if he was being bullied though as taking away a childs self-respect, confidence and esteem is totally unacceptable.
I guess I'd feel bad either way, but I think B would make me feel worse.

B.
I might sound like a jerk for this, but I believe that a child can always learn to overcome and defend. Whatever they go through now can always make them stronger in the end. (No, this is not an excuse saying its ok to treat children badly now.)
But being a bully on the other hand, in my opinion, will only make the child weaker in the long run, spiritually, mentally and maturity wise. Not to say that they are all doomed or anything like that. I just think it makes it more difficult to develop in those ways. And not only that, but trying to tell your kid that acting like that isn't right and unacceptible can be a bit tricky...
But then again that is just me..

child is the bully would make me feel worse. not that i would want A but i would rather know my child isn't the one that makes others lives a misery and know that i can get something done about it. the traits that make bullies are not traits i would want to find in any child of mine.
