There is not a 600 meter race in the Olympics, but if there were you could expect the time to be in the neighborhood of 70 seconds.

Typical? Difficult to answer. Boys' Times?
Suggest that you look up the last year's results on-line for several high school meets.
Don't know your ability, but suppose that you can manage a 59 sec. outdoor 400M; could you do an additional 200M in 35 sec? THat's a 1:34 600M. Remember, indoor times tend to be slower because of the additional turns, and traffic problems.
A 1:21 would put you up therre with the big guys. A 1:30 would probably get you some points at many meets. Depending on what the competition is in your area, 1:40 might not be too shabby.
For girls, a 1:35 would put you right up there with the big time high schoolers. The 1:45 - 1:55 range ain't too bad either to pick up team points.
Good luck; and experiment around with other indoor distances also.

I guess you are getting ready for the indoor season.
What high school age group are you, male/ female? I need more info to give you a good answer. Here an example in senior /male/female/highschool

High school girls(senior) 1:33.76
High school girls (junior) 1:44.69

High school boys(senior)1:19.41
High school boys(junior)1:27.95

as some people don't know there ARE 600m races, run in indoor track & field races, don't discount something unless you really know the answer.

World Records
MEN
1:12.81 - Johnny Gray [USA] 1986

WOMEN
1:22.63 - Ana Quirot [CUB] 1997

A 600m time would depend on your Endurance + Your 400m PR/PB

Some guestimations on my part:
400m PR: 50.00 - 600m est: 1:16.00-1:20.00
400m PR: 55.00 - 600m est: 1:23.00-1:26.00
400m PR: 60.00 - 600m est: 1:32.00-1:36.00

Good luck with all your running
