No, those area all long term things. Acually, at first cigarettes have an incluence of the nicotine and so on in increasing alertness and cognitive thinking, so does exercise, so does sex, and so does eating right.
The problem is when the smoking takes over your exercise because you can't hardly breath anymore and you are too lazy to fix a good dinner so you get it out of a drive through window. That is when it is not good. Best not to get started at all because the little positive affects you see early on don't even near the adverse affects later.
As far as canceling out I would say no, eat right, exercise, and cancel out the smoking LOL, I know you said you don't smoke, but I don't know anybody that does and that eats right and or exercises so I think that there is usually an adverse affect between the two.
Does eating more ranch dressing on your salad cancel out the positivity of the salad? Same question really isn't it? If the salad is good for you, does the dressing change that the acual salad is good for you, or does it simply add some not so good with the good? Same theory applies really, atleast in my opinion LOL

There are two misconceptions here. The first is that nothing in this life if free. Some where, at some time, everything has a price. The second is that we need Obamas' "permission" to do anything. This jerk was, albeit by mistake, elected President, not crowned King, and as far as I know, has not acquired the full power of a Dictator, at least not yet, though he seems to be working on it. Anyone that thinks that they need Obamas' permission to do a damn thing is already bound by slavery, 21st Century Style. Me, I'll pass. Call me old fashioned, but I prefer Liberty, and Freedom.

You can get chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder COPD even if you don't get cancer. Then you can join those pitiful old smokers who spend the rest of the lives wheeling around little tanks of oxygen piped up to their noses by plastic tubes.
That sounds like cancelling out health benefits as far as I know.

It doesn't cancel it, but it certainly undermines it. If smoking is going to give you cancer (which it can), then it won't care if you exercise regularly and eat well. But I have to say that anyone who exercises and eats right...and then smokes...makes NO sense to me. Sheesh!

Smoking is totally bad. You could eat very well and exercise and still get lung cancer from smoking.

that would be like keeping a car all nice and clean and waxed up yet beating it very hard mechanically and driving it fast.
you can eat right, exercise but smoking can still easily give you lung cancer.
