If it's the new BT Home Hub (ie the White box that stands upright with the cables coming out of the back, also has the option to add the phone) then No, this unit is hardcoded to use a specific username and password for the BT network.
If it's an older BT Modem/router then yes it is possible to change the details to allow you to connect to another ISP (Once you have their details). - This would need to be changed via the web browser interface and not the software that BT Supply.
2 alternatives would be to either chose an ISP that supply you with a new device, or purchase your own modem/router and then follow the instructions regarding the setting up.

Most HUBs are universal and will work with any configuaration. The HUB is only a router that splits the incoming ISP signal for many nodes (pcs on your network).
From the line that comes into your network area > the cable goes to the first hardware which is the MODEM > then the HUB plugs into the MODEM > then the nodes (pcs on your network) plug into the HUB. Usually your FIRST pc PORT on the HUB is the one that the ISP assigns the IP address to.
A MODEM is ISP specific in many cases; because the ISP programs the ones they give you.
If you want a MODEM that is universal, talk to the folks at Radio Shack. Then you will have to talk - coordinate with your ISP techs to program "your universal" modem. This process can be done over the telephone.

Firstly if the hub contains the modem no, otherwise yes. However, I suggest you get a bought modem and hub say Belkin, as many ISP modems deliberately slow your transfer rate down. Many use USB which may mean a transfer rate not much better than dial up.
France Telecom (Orange) are well pissed of with me, they have a problem on their system, will not fix it and I rob a large amount of the whole area's all thats left 8 m.

As the hub is BTs (I thought) don't you have to give it back when you swap ISP? I'd like to know as my sister is looking to leave BT & was curious about the hardware they gave her.
