Who's taking the pennant and playing Detroit? It seems to me that regardless of who wins, will get slaughtered by Detroit in the W.S. Agreed? If not, why?

OK, enuogh with the Detroit bandwagon.

The Mets will win tonight.

El Duque is coming back for the World Series.
Detroit is overrated, Beachdiva broke some of this down, but she did miss a couple of points. Too much rest hurs teams batspeed and pitchers command. The Mets are a great hitting team, with several dead fastball hitters. The Mets have beat up on Todd Jones in the past, and are fully capable of tagging him again. Some of the Yankee games were in the afternoon to evening, with the shadows helping the pitchers, no such help in the World Series, as all the games are at night. The Mets have been consistantly good all year, the Tigers have been very inconsistant since the All Star break. The Mets have the best record in Baseball. The Tigers got swept when their division was on the line, in that pressure situation, where they only needed one win to clinch the AL Central, they got swept by the Royals.

Mets win in 5, at Shea.

I'm going with the Mets even though I would rather see St. Louis. Home field advantage and Cards bats are cold. They need to really step it up to beat the Mets and I don't see it happening.

Game 7 Prediction: 5-2 Mets.

Yeah, I agree Detroit will win in five, if not sweep.

1) They play at home for 2 first games
2) Tigers pitching is terrific. Mets pitching is average (at best)
3) Tigers have been hitting, against good pitchers too. Oakland isn't a joke team. They were a good team.
4) NL teams suck period, Mets are King Turd on Crap Mountain. (opinion)
5) Tigers are rested and will be coming in strong.

Tigers in 4 or 5. Unfortunately, that will mean they win away from Detriot, but a win is a win.

The Mets and they won't get slaughtered in the Series either because they are coming in with the best record of the season that including the American League, and set a MLB record while doing it. Detroit came in on the wild card and Oakland didn't have a chance in hell no matter who they were going to play. So that isn't all that impressive, and as far as the Yankees they didn't have the best season to begin with they only came in towards the end after Boston put their whole team just about on the DL, so beating them wasn't so impressive. So considering the Mets didn't fall out of first place from day one, that's where it is! Oh and that was without Pedro.

ESPN Baseball tonight came up with an interesting fact: Last 11 times that a time won game 6 at home to force a game 7, that home team won. The last team to force a game 7 at home and lose was the 1975 Red Sox.

Of course that proves nothing for tonight. Whoever wins will be facing a rested and confident Tiger team.

Met bats come alive in front of home town fans and they beat Cards 8 to 5 to night. Short Pedro & El Duque on their pitching staff, they will lose to Detroit in 6 games in the World Series.

Mets will win it all - although they could not compete in the AL East, they did well. Seems the Yankees had a few on the DL for some time this year as well - Boston will have to wait another 80 some years before getting to the big one.

Probably the Mets, since they are at home. Either way, Detroit will beat the winner in 6 games.
