Itching around the vulval area may be the result of a vaginal infection (usually fungal), cystitis, or a rash (possibly caused by sensitivity to toiletries or synthetic underwear).
Vaginal fungal infections are caused by a yeast-like fungus, Candida albicans. This condition is commonly called thrush. A woman with vaginal thrush will normally complain of vulval soreness, itching and a burning sensation. There may be a thick white discharge like cottage cheese.
Occasional recurrent episodes may be treated with vaginal antifungals. These antifungals are available over-the-counter from pharmacists. As the creams may themselves cause vulval irritation in some women, prolonged symptoms that persist after treatment must be reviewed by a doctor.
Common triggers of vaginal thrush include:
antibiotics;
pre-menstrual changes in the vagina’s acidity/alkalinity;
hot weather;
tight fitting synthetic clothes;
vaginal deodorants, bath salts and some soaps;
intercourse, especially if the vagina is dry; and
tampons.
Go see you doctor and they can do a swab test to determine if it is thrush or not.

Its probably the birth control. Are you using a gel or something you insert? I get that and yes it could be a yeast infection and the birth control has irritated it more. Some of those inserts will burn you and irritate the **** out of you. They say the non oxynol 9 is too strong for you when it does that, but who want to get one that has lower amounts and risk getting pregnant? Good luck!

Go to your gynecologist immediately and ask him to give you a yeast culture test to see if it is yeast or something else.
