It depends on a few things. The SLI function that the nvidia card gives you only provides a real boost in permformace at high resolutions. If your monitor runs at 1280x1024 or less then it makes little differance. The benchmarks in this review show what I'm talking about. As the resolution goes up the gap between the single cards and the dual card widens.

Unless you are Running a BIG MONITOR at 1600x1200 resolution, the GX2 is a complete waste. It uses more GPU time calculating the split frame elements than actually using them to render. I agree with Mysticman about checking Toms benchmarks. If you are planning on playing Oblivion, go with the ATI card because your get both HDR shading-which is cool and Anti-aliasing. Otherwise with Nvidia cards its one or the other with that game. But benchmark wise the Nvidia 7900 GTX seems the most powerful card at the moment.

Well if you look at the benchmarks here:http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics.html
you will see that the X1950 is beating the 7950GX2 in most categories. This is because despite all the hype about SLI, it really doesn't provide as big a performance boost as some people think. (I bring up SLI, because the 7950GX2 is basically like having two 7900GTX running in SLI).

I incredibly have a 8800GTX and it is barely awsome!! you shouldnt basically look on the numbers, yet extra the valuable aspects, and the 8800's are full of them. you may desire to look at shaders aswell. in anycase i could decide for the 8800Gts (in all probability somewhat biost on my 0.5 although. lol)
