pretty sure Vera Lynn sang "We'll meet again" (as heard in the final scene of DR. STRANGELOVE.)

Edith Piaf sang only in French, and was a living legend all her career, and helped the French Underground by visiting and singing to French prisoners in Nazi concentration camps---she would pose for "souvenir" photos with the French prisoners in a group, and the Underground would copy those photos later into fake passports and documents to help those prisoners escape.
Piaf was so famous and beloved that the Germans gave her passage to visit those camps.
