On apples website i downloaded the different icons for like the hd, apps. How do i put the image as the icon for it.

Maybe you want to change the appearance of an icon. First, find an icon you like that is on your computer (not still on the Internet). Then click once on the icon to highlight it. Next, go to the File menu and select "Get Info". That will open a small window with the icon you want in its top left. Now click on that icon in the small window and go to Edit > Copy. That puts the icon on the invisible system clipboard. Next, go through the same steps with the icon you want to change but stop before Copy. Instead, Paste. There you have it. Later, if you get tired of the change and want the original icon, do the Get Info trick but choose Edit > Undo paste.
