When a baby sucks in from a bottle or breast they take in a lot of air, which is why they need to burp.
But when you feed him babyfood, he's not sucking in a lot of air with all those concentrated calories. He's actually mini-burping any air he takes into his stomach as he's eating, and you're probably not noticing.
Congratulations on your little one. Enjoy him while he's so small. It seems like an immense amount of work and worry, but believe me, it goes by far too quickly. Relax and enjoy him!

How old is your baby? I'll assume he's a good 5 or 6mths old here if you're giving baby food, and it will be likely you dont have to burp him at all from now on even when he drinks from a bottle. It's around this age they learn to burp without assistance. My girl is a great burper, I'm very proud to say. Like others already wrote, the need to burp comes from inhaling air along with the milk when your baby drinks, and that isnt an issue with baby eating food off a spoon. Just take the baby food slowly, milk is still the most important thing in his diet and giving too much of solids can reduce his appetite for milk (breastmilk or formula of course, no cow milk before 12mths).
First babies are very exciting, arent they? Scary times, but so exciting. :-)

Our baby let us know when he was done letting us burp him- we could sit there forever trying to burp him after a bottle, and he wouldn't, so then we kind of stopped. After feeding baby food, he won't need to burp. About the bottle after feeding baby food- my son didn't always need one because the baby food is filling. I actually started him out with a half jar of fruits and half jar of veggies stage 1. Then when he acted a little more hungry, I would give him a whole jar... I did the same with Stage 2. Our doctors told us that formula was important and should consist of most of their diet, however, the fruits and veggies were also good, and since it fills them up, I just make fruits and veggies his lunch. Then his next feeding time, a bottle.
I was concerned also with all this- I am a new mommy myself. Your baby will let you know if he is hungry- or even not hungry. My son would seal his lips when he was full lol
goodluck! Also, any questions you have on this, you can always ask the doctors or nurses you go to. Ours has a nurse line, and you can ask them any questions- it does help sometimes!

Babies don't usually burp after eating baby food. The reason they DO burp after a bottle is because air is getting into the bottle...they are sucking their food from the bottle. When eating baby food...they are being fed directly from you (the spoon) so no air is entering

Yes, and it's completely fine to worry. But babies don't usually burp after they eat baby food.
When a baby drinks formula, he's drinking so fast that air gets trapped, and if you don't burp him, he'll get gas pains. The same is not true of solid food. It's a different mechanical process. Besides, if he needed to burp, and it didn't happen on it's own, you'd know it. He'd be one fussy little baby!

I wouldn't worry. I never burp my son after he eats his baby food. And I only burp him once after a bottle. I think once they reach a certain age (6 mths and up) they can handle the gas better and their bodies are able to expell it by itself. My son will not take a bottle after eating his baby food either. He usually takes it an hour or 2 after his 'meal'. If he's not gassy, then he's fine! If you're really bothered by it try some infant gas drops after his baby food.

I wouldn't worry about it. They usually don't burp after eating food. I don't know how old he is, but if he is 6months or so, he will burp when he needs to all by himself. Good Luck to you & Congrats!

Stop stressing... the child will naturally release the gas when necessary. Chill, little mommy.
