It really is cute, but, he really can't be using the spare bedroom as a big litter box. I mean, I cleaned the litter box and now he decided it's his bed. He is just laying in it, digging making it comfortable, then flopping down, it really is cute. Maybe I should put a new box in the spare room . Good idea? What do you think?

Yes put another box in the spare room. Everytime he makes a mess move the poop into the box. Also try usinga products like bi-odor or natures miracle to clean. It breaks down the enzymes in urine to help prevent the pet from going there again.

Until he again uses the litter box for as bathroom keep the spare room door closed before it becomes a ingrained habit and hard to break for what happens when you have Company they may not like a rabbit coming in and going to the bathroom-----You need to put hay in his litterbox---he does chew on hay right-for it is vital for it keeps everything he eats moving on through the digestive tract esp the hair he swallows when he grooms himself-will keep hair from staying in stomach where it just gets to be a giant ball of hair and often fatal. The rabbit will sit in the litterbox chewing the hay which WILL get the bathroom thing going----Have had rabbits for 13+years and my rabbit now is going on 13 years(albino named Bunny) also had a brown lopeared rabbit-Precious but recently passed on due to Cancer but was 9+years.Also until its ingrained and continuously uses the same litterbox and nowhere else leave a tiny bit of litterthat has urine smell in the cleaned litterbox or set aside and put back after you've cleaned I also use Vinegar to clean the litterbox for gets rid of the mineral build-up from the urine like nothing else and is totally safe for the rabbit--I too do not cage my bunnies-have a bunny proof room and I have a small wire basket that I fill with hay but too small for the bunny to lay in so the bunnies always have hay to chew. Also use recycled newspaper for litter-get at Petsmart for cat litter will eventually seriously damage health of rabbit since they'll chew litterThe hay and the rabbit pellets I gt at the VET(Exotic animal VeT)for has to be absolutely pesticide free It is not unusual though for the bunny to lay in the litterbox -although Bunny does not my lop eared,Precious did and I'd notice him laying too long I'd lift him out for I'd not wish him to get soiled If your bunny evr needs to have his hiney washed you can use HIBICLENS,chlorhexidine gluconate solution, for it is a safe disinfectant to use on bunnies-get over the counter at the Pharmacy Years ago I got a great book from the Vet HOUSE RABBIT HANDBOOK _ How to Live with a Urban Rabbit and it has everything you could possibly need to give your bunny a long and healthy life and have followed it religiously and esp like the section of when the bunny needs to go to the vet although I tend to take whenever I'm concerned or not sure. I am so glad that your bunny is free. Wish you a long loving relationship with your bunny

in the beginning put a few litterboxes wherever he seems to go and once you get him going in the boxes, start to take a few away. also try changing his litter: if you're using litter, then try hay or the corn cob litter, etc.. if you need to, close off his access to some areas until he uses the litterbox well. if he's not fixed, do it! until then, nature's miracle in the gallon jug is about $20.00.
