Frankenmuth, Michigan is a really neat town. It has a decidedly Bavarian feel to it. The big attraction is the largest Christmas store in the world, but there are many interesting shops. They have a resturant there called Zenders that has some of the best food I've ever had. If you eat in the cafeteria downstairs, the food is like that in the upstairs dining room, just cheaper and just as delicious. Google the city and see if you are interested. It is approx. a 4-5 hour drive from Dayton, Ohio and straight up I-75. My husband actually got a big kick out of the Christmas store and he usually doesn't like that sort of thing. You actually need a map (which you get at the front door) to find your way around.

Florida is expensive and a long drive. Try the Smoky Mtns or Kitty Hawk area of NC. Look for a condo visit. Through RCI right now I can get a weeks stay for $250. Your $400 can take you a long way if you are careful. Avoid fast food places and eat breakfast & lunch from your ice chest.

sometimes they have cruises for 200 or 300 some...which includes all the meals on ship...you might get lucky if its an off week or last minute deal...flights would be the only question..but yea im sure you can find cheap hotels in florida..once again flight is the only expensive thing haha
