Am I pregnant? Additional details below.?

I recently (about 5 weeks ago) started taking Ortho Tricyclen lo. I waited 7 days as directed before having unprotected sex. My period did not come this month, but I did have very minor bleeding roughly 2 weeks before I was due to start. Could I be pregnant? My friends are all telling me that you are supposed to wait 30 days before having unprotected sex once you start the pill. I am very confused. Should I stop taking the pills until I find out if I am pregnant or not?

You are correct that 7 days is long enough. That's what I was told. Your period might be irregular b/c you've just started the pill. Most doctors will tell you to try a certain brand for 3 months before you decide on it or against it. Go ahead and take a pregnancy test to make sure, and then you'll know whether or not you should stop the pill. First Response works great.

actually, you are suppose to take birth control pills for 3 months before you don't run a risk of getting pregnant. I am currently taking nursing classes and this question has come up during disscussions. As for weather you are pregnant or not, yes there is a possibility. Are your breasts sore? Are you experiencing morning sickness? Anything like that. Usually if you do become pregant you will have some slight bleeding due to the placenta attaching to the uterine wall. You need to quit taking the birthcontrol pills until you find out for sure.
They could cause problems for the child or even a misscarriage, and that is not fun I have been there. As for unprotected sex, you should never have unprotected sex. Birthcontrol is not 100% effective. You are much better off to use the birthcontrol and condoms because then you have an even less chance of getting pregnant.

Last time I was on ortho tricyclen you were suppose to wait 30 days to have unprotected sex. So there could be a possibilty I would probably stop taking the pills and take a test as soon as possible.

friends are correct, you should wait 30 days before unprotected sex. You should get a test asap to make sure but to ease your mind, if you are just starting the pill your fist period after starting the pill is unusual for most people. It takes a bout 2 months to regulate your cycle then it will be like clock work when you start and get off your period.

Take a pregnancy test before you do ANYTHING. Sometimes the pill can make you skip. If you are a day-one starter (started pill on the 1st day of your pd), then yeah, you wait 7 days, but it's best to wait one full cycle. Don't stop taking them until after you see your dr-- IF the pregnancy test is positive.

I understand what you're dealing with. My dogs is depressed appropriate now, too. My relationship ended which risk-free her existence different than 10 months. Yes don't take the pill until u know 4 sure cuz if u r pregant then it could harm ur baby. So go bye a home pregancy test, see if u r and then go from there. Good Luck!!!!
