In my current job, I am in training. There are long periods of time where I do nothing but sit at my desk and read back issues of the publisher's magazines because they can't give me anything else to do (this is because they're coming up on a publishing deadline, I will have more to do next week). The problem is, the magazines are exceedingly boring.

How can I amuse myself quietly with the following items:

a ballpoint pen,
a sharpie marker,
a spiral notebook,
and a green portfolio.

And before anyone thinks to be a smart *** and says "You should be working." Keep in mind that its a hectic time around the office and no one has time to train me to do anything worthwhile. I've already done all of the jobs that I've been trained to do for this week and next week. I literally can do nothing at this point.
