You got alot of good answers except one. DO NOT DOUCHE! EVERY DOCTOR I HAVE EVER HAD HAS SAID THAT THAT DOES MORE HARM THAN GOOD. The vagina, under normal circumstances, has a variety of good and bad bacterias. AND THIS IS NORMAL, EVEN THE "BAD BACTERIA" Douching cleanses them all away. So try the monistat, it comes in 1 or 3 or 7 night treatments, try the prescription, Diflucan, JUST DONT DOUCHE! If no improvement, talk to your mom or see your doctor. If you're not sexually active, and all you have is a yeas inf or bacterial vaginosis, your mom isnt gonna think you are having sex with those diagnosis. They are not STD's. Please note that there are no over the counter treatments for bacterial vaginosis. A yeast infection normally does not smell, but BV does and it smells like dead fish. You'll know if you have that, and if left untreated, most likely so will people who sit next to you. Good luck!

You most likely have a yeast infection. Nothing to worry about. Just go to the store and buy some over the counter meds and follow the directions exactly, so it doesn't come back. There are many causes for a yeast infection. Been taking any prescription meds? That will do it. Have you changed your bath soap, laundry detergent, fabric softener, lotion,....? There are so many possibilities. It's normal for women to get them so don't freak out. Just treat the symptoms, and don't worry about it. There's nothing wrong with you, it's just part of being female! :) Also, don't be too afraid or embarrassed to talk to mom about things. Chances are she's been thru these things too and she will appreciate that you can go to her with things like this. It's OK to be embarrassed, but don't take your mom for granted. That's why she's there!

Whenever you get burning and odour, it usually means an infection of some sort. Do you use tampons? Some women have forgotton to remove tampons at the end of their period, or a piece of the tampon remains inside, causing a bad odour. Check to see if this is the case.
It's not 'natural' to have burning and odour esp if you bathe regulary. Douching is not recommended as it upsets the ph balance of the vagina and makes you prone to infection. Have you been in a hot tub or whirlpool or heated pool ? Did you wear a wet swimsuit for a long while recently? A yeast infection is a possibility if you are 'itchy' as well.
A bladder infection or urinary tract infection is another possibility. Does it burn/sting when you pee? Do you have to go frequently?
You don't have to be sexually active to get a vaginal infection. There are no home remedies for getting rid of an infection. It means a trip to the doctor or clinic for medication.

OK you were pretty blunt so I am gonna be also. I assume it is your vagina that is burning and smells funny. do you have any clumpy white/yellow/greenish discharge?? put your fingers in and see if you can pull any out. If so, maybe you have yeast, you can try over the counter gyne-lotrimin. it is great to wear clean underwear, I do to, but that wont prevent you from getting any vaginal infections. they are caused by all the things lthat already live in your vagina. plenty of yeast and bacteria live in there, most of the time they get along pretty well. but if you upset the balance, you can get an infection. if it doesnt go away with yeast treatment, you may want to see a doctor to check you for bacterial vaginosis (very common and not an std) if it smells fishy, that's probably what it is.

Yep I'm a guy and I read it.
I'd agree with everyone else, It'd just be a yeast infection most likely. There are antibiotic pills that you can pop that will make it go away. if it doesn't then believe me, it's important that you see your doctor. Don't be shamed because you will be one of many girls who visit with the same sorts of problems.
Good luck :)
Oh and by the way it can be caused by wearing underwear that's too tight, and I think cotton underwear can stop it from going away. Also if you went swimming recently it might have been caused by that.

you probably just have a yeast infection if you are not sexually active. it is a very common thing and nothing to be embarrased about. i would really recomend that you talk to your mom and she will know what how to help you but if that is totally out of the ?and you don't want to talk to your mom then perhaps you can talk to some other female that you can trust, but there is always the local health department if you can't go to you reg. dr. most places have a health department that may be able to help you. and wearing cotton undies will help to. alot of yeasts are because of excess moisture. so maybe try to have a little time when ever you can and just air your bottom out air can work miracle but you should see a dr if you have never had this before just to be sure it is not something worse

It does sound like thrush. Itching around the vulval area may be the result of a vaginal infection (usually fungal), cystitis, or a rash (possibly caused by sensitivity to toiletries or synthetic underwear).
Vaginal fungal infections are caused by a yeast-like fungus, Candida albicans. This condition is commonly called thrush. A woman with vaginal thrush will normally complain of vulval soreness, itching and a burning sensation. There may be a thick white discharge like cottage cheese.
Occasional recurrent episodes may be treated with vaginal antifungals. These antifungals are available over-the-counter from pharmacists. As the creams may themselves cause vulval irritation in some women, prolonged symptoms that persist after treatment must be reviewed by a doctor.
Common triggers of vaginal thrush include:
antibiotics;
pre-menstrual changes in the vagina’s acidity/alkalinity;
hot weather;
tight fitting synthetic clothes;
vaginal deodorants, bath salts and some soaps;
intercourse, especially if the vagina is dry; and
tampons.
The best thing to do would be to go to the doctors and get them to do a swab test to find out what it definately is.

If its a fishy smell then its bacterial vaginosis, and you have to see a dr for medication, it will go away on its own but takes longer, or it could be a yeast infection in which you would have lots of discharge and can get over the counter medications, but it could also be a urine infection. Which it doesn't always sting only when you pee so it might be a good idea to suck up the embarassment and go to the dr.

I also think you may have a yeast infection and monistat is an answer.
As well there is a body wash for down there called Vagisil. You can use it each time you go to the washroom , and instead of carrying it with you in a bottle, spread some onto lightly moistened papertowels and put these into a baggy to go in your purse.

You could have an infection that needs medical care. And if you don't get that care and let this go on you could seriously hurt your body. You might hurt your chances of ever having kids. If it was just the itching i say soak in a bath tub. But you are having other symptoms of a possible infection. So you now where you need to go so plz do it. There is nothing to be embarrassed about.
Best wishes and good luck!!
