I have a five year old (first child) and I need to know is it normal for her to be growing pubic hairs this early? It is not fuzz - it is actual strands of hair. I feel that it is totally too early. She is a fast past kid. She is at the top of her class and she comprehends faster than a regular five year old. Have any parent experience this with their kid?

your child could have precocious puberty. take her to her pediatrician to find out. This is important. it is easily treated

it's not unheard of. I remember when I was in 1st grade there was this one girl who had pubic hair and we were amazed too. She might menstruate as early as nine years old. She has more of the girly hormones than most. don't worry about her. when she is about 16 years old she should get checked for fibroids. This is still not a threat to her future Womanhood.

I've heard of girls getting their cycles as early as nine, but I'd really recommend you call her doctor. There could be a glandular problem, pituitary or thyroid, or there may be other factors that you really should discuss with a doctor and not on the internet.
